Badarinath Pendant
The Badarinath Temple pendant was created as a one-of-one custom piece for a devotee with a deep personal connection to the temple. The composition brings the temple into the centre of the design, with the surrounding mountain scenery helping place it within its natural setting. The piece was developed to preserve the recognisable form of Badarinath while turning it into a detailed and wearable devotional pendant.
The pendant was designed as a double-sided piece, with the front centred on a view of the Badrinath Temple set against the beautiful mountain landscape behind it. On the reverse, a Sanskrit prayer offers salutations to Lord Badrinath as Lord Vishnu—the Lord of Lakshmi, ruler of the universe, and giver of righteousness, prosperity, fulfilment, and liberation. Framing the text are Vishnu’s four symbols placed in the corners, completing the composition.
Casting & Polishing
The pendant was pressure cast under controlled conditions so the fine temple architecture, layered mountain scenery, Sanskrit lettering, and four corner symbols were reproduced clearly in silver. It was then cleaned and polished in several careful stages, refining the raised surfaces while preserving the depth of the relief and the sharpness of the smaller details on both sides. Special care was taken around the temple, pillars, and text so these details remained clear and were not softened or removed during finishing.
Detailed Enameling
The enamel was applied by hand across the temple and surrounding scenery, where many of the architectural and landscape details were extremely small. The main challenge was keeping every line, shape, and colour clearly defined rather than allowing the tiny sections to merge into solid blocks. Our artists worked carefully to bring out the windows, roof patterns, façade details, and mountain elements with clarity, even at such a small scale.
Final Engraving
The final stage was laser engraving the outer sides and lower edge of the pendant with repeating Om and Swastik symbols. The engraving was planned as one continuous path with no visible breaks, even though the pendant had to be repositioned several times to reach every side. Careful alignment at each stage kept the symbols, spacing, and border consistent around the entire piece.
