Srila Prabhupad Pendant

This custom Srila Prabhupada piece was commissioned by a client in Mumbai, who had previously purchased several pendants from our collection and was familiar with our work. Based on that experience, he chose to commission a custom piece as a personal gift for a friend, with the intention that the presence of Srila Prabhupada be clearly conveyed through the form.

The project was approached with careful attention to likeness, posture, and expression, so the final piece carried the sense of calm, clarity, and recognisable presence that Srila Prabhupada himself embodied—aimed at making the form feel immediately familiar.

Reference Selection & Composition

The design of this piece began with a careful selection process for the front, where multiple reference photographs were reviewed to arrive at an image that felt truly representative of Prabhupada. The chosen reference was then translated into form with close attention to likeness, expression, and overall details.

To complement this, the reverse was developed as a secondary narrative element, depicting Srila Prabhupada’s first journey to the West aboard the Jaladuta. Alongside this, a custom loop was designed as an extension of the piece, incorporating the ISKCON logo as a detail that reflects the broader work and legacy of Srila Prabhupada.

Bringing the Design into Hand

After the design was finalised, the piece was resin printed to accurately assess proportions, depth, and overall form at its intended scale. Working with a physical prototype allowed these elements to be evaluated more reliably than on screen, ensuring the design translated correctly into a three-dimensional object.

The prototype was then finished with a silver spray, bringing it visually closer to the final material and allowing details to be reviewed with greater clarity. This provided a final level of confirmation before the piece moved forward into silver casting.

Casting & Completion

Once the design was fully completed and approved, the piece moved into casting in 92.5 Sterling Silver, translating the form into metal with careful attention to detail retention. After casting, the surface was buffed and polished with great precision and taken through controlled oxidation, allowing depth and contrast to develop across the form.

With all elements completed, the piece was assembled and reviewed as a whole. This stage brought everything together into a finished piece that remained completely faithful to the original design.
