Muni Jai

This custom piece of Jain Monk Muni Jai was commissioned by a client in Kolkata and created entirely from an original vision shared with us.

The project began with understanding the form, presence, and details the client wanted to see, which were then translated into a complete custom design through structured discussions and approvals.

3D Design & Visualisation

The piece began in 3D, where the client’s vision was translated into a clear and accurate digital form. At this stage, the posture, proportions, facial expression, and overall presence of Muni Jai were carefully developed to reflect the intent shared by the client.

Working in 3D allowed the form to be evaluated from all angles, ensuring balance, restraint, and correctness before moving forward. Design refinements were discussed and finalised at this stage, providing clarity and alignment before any physical production began.

This process established a precise and approved foundation for the rest of the project, ensuring the final piece remained true to the original vision.

Interpreting the Form

Once the approved 3D design was translated into a physical form through printing and casting, the enamel work was developed under the direct involvement of our senior artisans and designers. With the solid form in hand, the team studied posture, contours, and overall presence before defining the colour direction and surface treatment, treating enamel as an integral part of the sculpture rather than a decorative layer.

Initial enamel layers were carefully planned and executed to establish consistent tone and clean coverage. Decisions at this stage were made with restraint in how colour was introduced, while the enamel itself was applied with precise control to preserve clarity, balance, and surface definition throughout the piece

Personalised Finishing

As a final stage, the client’s chosen mantra was added through laser engraving, allowing for accurate lettering, controlled depth, and long-term clarity. The engraving was planned with care, considering placement, scale, and spacing so the text remained legible without drawing attention away from the form itself.

Separately, carefully selected text was introduced into the jali work at the back of the pendant, bringing detail and value to an area often left understated. This addition was integrated subtly into the structure, contributing depth and completeness while remaining secondary to the primary form and maintaining consistency across the piece.
